Hugh De Monte Alto

Hugh De Monte Alto (or Monhaut) (ca. 1050 – 1130), also known as Hugh fitzNorman, was an English noble and Baron under Hugh Lupus during the early years of William The Conquerer's reign.
==Biography==
Hugh was born in the mid 11th century, in either Cheshire or Normandy. His father was Eustace De Monte Alto, who arrived in Britain during, or shortly after, The Battle of Hastings under "Palatine Earl of Chester, the potent Hugh Lupus", whom Hugh would later serve under as Steward and a Baron. Hugh is known for giving a large portion of his possessions to monks: granting the lands of Gosetce and Lantrene to the monks of the Abbey of Chester. Hugh married an unknown woman, who may have been a Suffolk heiress, and had at least one son named William in c.1075. Both Hugh and his wife were deceased by 1130. Hugh was succeeded by his brother, Roger De Monte Alto.
